Northern Goshawk

The National Audubon Society's Field Guide to Birds Eastern Region refers to this bird of prey as a "robust hawk with a long narrow tail, short rounded wings and bold white eyebrow." The Northern Goshawk can be found from Alaska to Newfoundland and as far south as New Mexico, the Great Lakes and New England. This large raptor is seldom seen, living mostly in coniferous forests and feeding on grouse. This magnificent life-size carving is 23" long from beak to the tip of the tail and has a height of 20".
